Your approach to training hygiene support staff in healthcare facilities makes a telling difference, when it comes to increasing the overall standards of hygiene. Our proven training programme will increase the effectiveness of support staff, improve adherence to HIQA quality and hygiene standards and dramatically raise internal and external audit ratings.
CLEANPASS training provides both practical and theoretical training in systematic and safe cleaning, hygiene skills, infection prevention and control, health and safety, communication skills and hygiene standards.

On completion of the Cleanpass Programme, your staff will :
Know Why they clean - learn about the origins and importance of cleaning in healthcare, reducing the presence of potentially harmful infections and maintaining a clean and safe healthcare environment.
Know What they are dealing with - Gain an understanding of where to find and how to control the presence and growth of microorganisms such as Bacteria like MRSA and Clostridium Difficile, Viruses such as Norovirus and Hepatitis B and Fungi such as Aspergillus in the healthcare setting.
Know How to stay safe - Be able to dilute, handle, use and store chemicals, use electrical equipment such as floor buffers, vacuums and steamers safely. Manage and dispose of healthcare waste and sharps safely and appropriately.
Know How to do great job - Be able to work safely while applying colour coding systems to prevent cross infection in the environment and know how to identify and report signs of a pest infestation. Clean an environment to meet at minimum a healthcare hygiene audit standard.
Know What to say and Know How to be Prepared - Be able to communicate effectively; including complaint handling, responding to auditors, completing incident and accident reports and completing checklists.

The CLEANPASS Course is suitable for those who are responsible for the overall standards of hygiene in healthcare facilities.
The aim of the CLEANPASS Programme is to provide your staff with the training that they need to clean in a manner that will prevent and reduce the spread of infection within the healthcare setting resulting in lower rates of Healthcare Associated Infections (HCAIs).
This training will equip your hygiene support staff with the knowledge and skills to identify and comply with the hygiene standards required by HIQA in the healthcare setting.

Programme Objectives
Your staff will become competent in a range of tasks including;
- Sanitary cleaning – baths, showers, sinks, toilets and urinals Hand washing / decontamination
- Mopping – mop sweeping, single solution mopping, two solution mopping
- Floor cleaning - buffing, stripping, polishing, scrubbing, spraying and vacuuming
- Surface cleaning - clean furniture, fittings and all vertical and horizontal surfaces: High level cleaning, wall washing, window cleaning, steam cleaning and damp dusting
- Cleaning of stairs, landings, handrails and balustrades Cleaning of computers, televisions and telephone cleaning Waste bin management and cleaning
- Cleaning Lifts
- Maintenance, cleaning and storage of cleaning equipment Management of a blood or body fluid spillage
- Cleaning and disinfection of service user equipment e.g. wheelchairs, patient beds, rehabilitation equipment and trolleys.
Assessment
Assessment
The course 3N0574 is assessed in the following ways, with the following weighting; Skills Demonstration 100%.
Skills Demonstration: A skills demonstration is used to assess a wide range of practical based learning outcomes including practical skills and knowledge. A skills demonstration will require the learner to complete a task or series of tasks that demonstrate a range of skills.
Grading
'Successful' indicates that the learner has achieved all of the learning outcomes for the award with some supervision and direction. The learner has demonstrated autonomy of action and has taken responsibility for generating appropriate evidence for all learning outcomes.
Tutor Support
You will have access to support from your tutor for the duration of the three day course. Your tutor can also direct you to further supports available that we provide.
Students receive a comprehensive unique CLEANPASS student pack containing a useful step by step cleaning manual.
Progression
CLEANPASS ID cards are given to participants who successfully complete the training. These ID cards, when worn, indicate to the public, employers and colleagues alike, the certified high standard of training they have attained. Participants take great pride in wearing this as a symbol of their credentials.
